Welcome to the Office of Community Outreach

Community Outreach Mission Statement
The mission of Off Campus and Community Outreach is to actively promote the inclusion of community service in every facet of the university experience by:

Helping
students realize their potential to impact their environment through the power of social action, responsible citizenship and volunteerism.

Challenging
the University community to seek knowledge and experience outside of the classroom.

Serving
as a liaison between the community and the University.

Encouraging
students to apply knowledge from their individual academic concentrations to create a just and peaceful society and to engage in active citizenship beyond graduation from UNC Charlotte.

Providing
placement and support services to individuals and organizations involved in community service.

How can we help you serve in your community?

Service in Action:                                                                                                                                    At least once a month we contact our listserv (email addresses of students interested in volunteer opportunities) with a volunteer opportunity in our community.  In some cases we will also provide transportation to these events.  If you would like to hear from us on a monthly basis regarding volunteer opportunities, please send your request to Volservices@uncc.edu

Food Recycling Program:                                                                                                      Every Monday and Wednesday when classes are in session, you can assist our driver with gathering and delivering food from RDH and the Union.  Student volunteers, under the direction of our van driver will assist him by filling trays with food and loading the trays into the van and accompanying him to the Urban Ministries in uptown Charlotte.   If you are interested in signing up, please send your request to foodservice@uncc.edu

Off Campus Agencies offering volunteer opportunities:                  You may find a list of volunteer  opportunities in room 207-A of the King building. These information sheets contain listings for local companies and organizations that seek volunteers.  Each opportunity represents a different interest area with the companies name, contact information and a brief description about the organization.  Please feel free to take as many sheets as you like and contact the company directly regarding what you are looking for and what hours you have available.
