Food Recycling
Community Outreach Program
The Food
Recycling Program, also known as the Community Outreach Program, was
the first of its kind in North Carolina and was actually begun by a
University of North Carolina at Charlotte student, now faculty member.
For more information on the history of the program, check out
http://www.uncc.edu/gchutchi/history.htm
Students
volunteer to take leftover food from our campus cafeterias to the Urban
Ministry Center, a local homeless shelter. Instead of good food being
wasted, our university gives something back to our community by simply
saving and collecting our leftovers!
