Colleges are mainly seen as just an
environment for learning, getting grades, graduating, and then getting the title of being a college graduate. We learned that the college experience is a whole lot more than that, and that our future jobs are going to look at more than just the classes we took over the years and the grades that we made in those classes, but also how we were involved in different aspects of 'college life' outside of our academics.

The Community Service Learning Community (CSLC) is a one year program for first year students who are planning to live off-campus AND have an interest in community service. This interdisciplinary, non-residential learning community draws on the ideals of service learning, which combine volunteer efforts with academic study. Students in this learning community will have opportunities to make a difference by volunteering in the local community, form relationships with students on and off-campus, and learn about community and campus resources.

I think this class has given me the opportunity to learn about myself. It has helped me to open up and really talk to other people. I have really enjoyed this class and I can't wait for next semester.
