I came to UNC Charlotte in October 2005. In
my role as Assistant Dean of Students for New Student Programs, I work with
the campus community to orient over 4700 new students and their families
each year. One of my favorite aspects of my job is supervising a team of
student leaders hired as orientation counselors dedicated to helping
incoming students learn about how to make the most of academic and
co-curricular opportunities at UNC Charlotte.
I grew up in Iowa City, IA. I then earned my
Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI.
During my time at Marquette I developed my interest in the student affairs
profession through my student leadership experiences. After graduation I
worked at Marquette for three years, one as an admission counselor and two
as the Coordinator for New Student Programs. In order to diversify my
experiences I went to Indiana University in Bloomington for my Master’s
program in Higher Education and Student Affairs. While I was there I served
as a Resident Leadership Specialist in Residential Programs and Services and
as an intern in the Office of Orientation Programs.
As a member of the Dean of Students Office
team, I enjoy working with a fantastic team of colleagues who are first and
foremost student advocates. Welcome to Niner Nation!
