The Chief Student Court Hearing Panel Member is responsible for the general leadership of the Hearing Panel members. The specific areas of responsibility of the position are:
LEADERSHIP
In
addition to being a role model through participation in hearing panels, all
training sessions and meeting, the Chief also:
n
Orients new
staff members to the Court and their role.
n
Communicates
regularly with staff members through: 1) correspondence regarding meetings,
notices, new procedures, etc., 2) regularly scheduled meetings for which the
Chief prepares an agenda based upon identified issues and concerns in
consultation with the Assistant Dean for Judicial Programs, and 3) individual
meetings with staff members to provide feedback, training, and concerns.
ORGANIZATION
n
Schedule
hearing panels for cases in cooperation with the Chief University Advocate and
Chief Student Defense at least two (2) weeks in advance.
n
Prepares all
materials necessary for each case and insure that all cases start on time.
n
Periodically
sits in on hearing panels to help determine training needs of staff members.
n
Maintains
communication with University Advocate and Student Defense offices through
regular meetings.
n
Meets on a
regular basis with the Assistant Dean of Student for Judicial Programs.
n
Represents
the Student Court on various committees and Academic Integrity Panel as needed.
ADMINISTRATION
n
Oversees the
maintenance of Court records.
n
Maintains
regular office hours and is available to staff members and Student Government
officers.
